Dear (Carrie) Diaries

After my last blog, I wondered, how am I going to follow up after 'Mad Men'?

How can I possibly top that?

(It’s not like I’m in a competition with myself….okay, maybe a little bit.)

Second blog and I’ve already peaked.

Seriously, does it get any better than being on The Mad Men Fashion File - State of the Union?

Why, yes, yes it does.

Not better, but just as butterflies-in-stomach-exciting-AWESOMENESS as being on The Mad Men Fashion File - State of the Union.

Overkill, I know putting the link in twice. I’m making up for months of not blogging about it.

Fluff your feathered bangs, straighten your shoulder pads, pull up your parachute pants and hang onto your huge doorknocker earrings because I’m here to tell you that 'The Carrie Diaries' made a purchase from The Thrifting Magpie.

Guess who's  totally stoked?

Happy Dance.

Forget M. C. Hammer. It’s Tracey Time.

Yes, I know the song didn’t come out in the 1980s. It was 1990 to be exact. Dude, everyone knows that the beginning of a decade is really a carryover from the previous one. It takes time—a few years at least—for a decade to ‘find’ and ‘define’ itself.

For those of you who don’t own a television, have no access to the Internet, or are not the haggard happy parents of tween or teenaged girls (or boys), 'The Carrie Diaries' is a television show on the CW. It’s based on the book—of the same name—by Candace Bushnell. It’s the prequel to 'Sex and the City'.

In 'The Carrie Diaries', viewers get to meet a young Carrie Bradshaw, before she
became forever immortalized on 'Sex and the City'. The young Carrie is played by a fantastic, young SJP look-alike AnnaSophia Robb.

See what I mean about Sarah Jessica?

I’m sure AnnaSophia’s closet would inspire envy. Her hair most definitely does.

So, like what totally tubular item did the costume designer (pinch myself) from 'The Carrie Diaries'  purchase?

This TOTALLY AWESOME New Wave Necklace:

Now, I have to somehow manage to make it until the new series begins to see if my necklace made it onto one of the episodes. I could also discover that my necklace didn’t make its grand appearance and instead ended up on the cutting room floor or alternatively never left the deep, dark crevices of the wardrobe closet.

How am I supposed to keep my cool and not burst from curiosity or anxiety? The show doesn’t premiere until Friday, 25 October, 8 p.m., 7 p.m., Central on the CW.

Repeat, I have to wait until 25 October. That’s almost three months!

Like oh my God, I'm wiggin’ out!

Will I be watching every episode of 'The Carrie Diaries'  to see if my Carrie’s (AnnaSophia’s) new wave necklace makes its debut?

No Duh.

Even though, I’m a bit older than the target audience, I’ve watched the show. It’s good and if you love(d) 'Sex and the City'—who doesn’t?—you will enjoy getting to know a younger Carrie.

If you haven’t caught the show, there’s still plenty of time before Season 2 starts. You can watch full episodes online, just click right here:

(This Halloween episode is timely, isn't it, with all the royal love happening now for Wills, Kate & Baby G?)

Here’s a teaser for the new series, according to Hollywood Life, Samantha Jones will be introduced in the new season.

Read about it here:

I will be vigilant in my necklace watch. However, if some reader happens to spot the necklace before I do, well, that will call for some kind of special something from The Thrifting Magpie shop.

I guess I should really thank 'The Carrie Diaries' costume designer twice: first for the purchase; second for my third blog entry.

'The Carrie Diaries' blog inspiration may not end with this post. I’m totally—TO THE MAX—sending a link to the wardrobe guy.

Carrie Chaser, Style Stalker, I am.

  3. Oh my hat! Happy dancing, Tracey!

Please remember me as you rise to stardom.

Actually, I think they should be hiring you as their style guru/adviser of what should be worn in the next season!
